My Darling

No one can choose who they fall for
Or when they fall, or how they fall, or why
I, well I fell for you and I must wait
It's only a matter of time...

Bye Felicia!

The only time I really cared for football was in high school. I was in the marching band, so we had no choice but to understand the game and cheer on the Pearland Oilers. Those were some memorable days. Life after high school, I went to one college football game. I never really got into it after that.

When women start watching football, it's usually due to the fact that you're dating a man who has a passion for it. I remember one MNF sitting on the couch with my significant other trying to understand why we had to watch this when there were more important things to watch on a Monday night. Then I started to lose my Sundays.

"Babe, (favorite team) is playing. I'll call you after this game.."

Are you kidding me?! I was hung up on so he can watch other MEN on the field trying not to kill each other over an odd shaped ball?!?! Then it turned into…

"We're going to watch 'the game' at _____ sports bar, are you coming?"

Wait, what?! I never understood it, I actually hated it. I hated the fact that for months at a time I was losing him to some stupid game at least once a week. UGH! BUT, like a good girlfriend, I just gave in and watched. I mean, I kind of understood how the game was played anyway. I figured if I wanted to spend time with him, it's best to just try and watch whatever game was going on instead of sit there jealous that the TV was getting more attention than me.

A few football games later (and realizing who Tom Brady was), it hit me. I finally understood why this game was so exciting. It's not like basketball where you can have 4-5 consecutive games in a row, sometimes back to back. Or not like baseball whose seasons feel never-ending. Football is a lot more exciting than that! Any given Sunday, any team can win. Each team has ONE game ONCE a week. You only have ONE chance a week to play your heart out and with that on the line, how can it not be exciting…. absolutely ANYTHING can happen!! I understood the hype.

I'm a Texans fan. No matter what crazy losing streak we've had past and present, it just feels right to root for the home team. With this insane season coming to an end, I look forward to a new era. As fans to a losing team, it sucks and brings you down…. but damn when they are on a winning streak… that's a natural high you can't get anywhere else!

I always told myself that I would never be one of those girls who do or like certain things because their boyfriend enjoys it. Well, I'm glad I gave in on this one. I will never forget how fun and exciting it was to see the Houston Rockets win back to back Championships. I can't wait for this to happen with the Texans!!

Coach Kubs, it was fun while it lasted. I hate to see anyone get fired, but I'm kind of glad you did.

Here Come the Holidays

After Halloween, it's pretty much Christmas season already - at least all the stores make us think so. Then come the Holiday commercials after Thanksgiving. The poor Pilgrims and Indians almost don't have their holiday anymore.

As Thanksgiving weekend comes to a close and December peers her head around the corner, I can't help but to reflect on the year that has passed. So many tragedies around me and prayers needed by all this year. It feels as if God is telling us to unite, be strong and pray.

People will come and go in your life and sometimes they're gone forever. I've truly learned this year that you should always express yourself no matter the circumstances because you may never have that chance again. Life is an adventure, but it's also short. Don't live in a world of "what if's" because you'll be stuck in a world of regrets.

There's one more month of 2013, let's end the year on a strong note.

Moving On...

It takes some time
God knows how long
I know that I can forget you
As soon as my heart stops breaking'
Anticipating
As soon as forever is through
I'll be over you.

Stupid Toto song 😳
